What the best way to cook TofuMy favorite way is to microwave it. Sounds crazy but it is fast and easy and everyone I served it to likes it, even people who "don like tofu wow po."Cut a block of firm or extra firm refrigerated tofu in half the short way and return half to the fridge covered in water and sealed in a container - use that up within a few days.So take the remaining half block and cut it the same direction into 4 equal slices. Arrange them on a plate and pour a little soy sauce on them. You don need a puddle, just a light coating. MIcrowave on high 5 minutes. Flip the pieces over and microwave on high 3 minutes. If your microwave is underpowered, you may need to add a few minutes wow gold. You are going for a nice chewy consistency somewhere between squishy-raw and eraser. It will firm up a bit more after cooking. You can always give it another minute if it is too squishy, but if it hard just try again with less cooking next time.Let it cool a few minutes and then I usually slice it into very small strips. These can be eaten just as they are as a snack, hot or cold, or on a salad, in a stir fry or any other recipe. You can also take these pieces uncut and bread and fry them - delicious. When everything is cooked/hot, add it all in the pan, (very large pan, I hope), and stir fry it all for a few minutes together to get the taste mixed together. Add more salt and pepper, and if you don want to use the stir fry sauce, hot sauce is amazing with tofu:)
